WHAT ARE TINCTURES?

A tincture is generally referred to as an extract of a plant product. Here at Off-Grid, we aim to create the most pure tinctures that contain natural cannabinoids and we make them in a way that is highly reproducible so you can work with our products and our community to get exactly what you need. Each person is an individual and will work with Off-Grid slightly differently.

Off-Grid tinctures offer a controllable experience for both the new and experienced cannabinoid consumer. All Off-Grid tinctures are formulated using high quality medium chain triglycerides (MCT oil) to deliver unique Off-Grid Blends. Off-Grid tinctures offer a highly pure and controllable way to deliver careful and repeatable dosages each time by providing a graduated dropper in each bottle. This allows each consumer to personalize the product experience to their own “Off-Grid Lifestyle”.

OUR INGREDIENTS

Natural products have been and will continue to be vital sources of medicines and supplements. The majority of life saving pharmaceutical products on the market are derived from natural products. Here at Off-Grid, we aim to unlock the therapeutic potential of nature by identifying new natural products that have benefits for our everyday life.

Working in parallel with academic research over several years. we have focused on the beneficial properties of natural phytocannabinoids. A phytocannabinoid is any molecule found in plants that interacts with a physiological system in the human body, called the Endocannabinoid System or ECS. The ECS can be compared to the central nervous system or the cardiovascular system. The ECS contains a wide range of “biological targets” that affect a wide range of physiological properties. Any compound found in a plant that interacts with the ECS can be classified as a phytocannabinoid.

There are many phytocannabinoids found in plants such as liverworts, but the most well known and popular phytocannabinoid producing plant is the Cannabis plant (marijuana or hemp). The cannabis plant is a highly diverse chemical factory producing more than 100 phytocannabinoids. Although these cannabinoids can look similar on paper, the slight differences in the compounds give rise to dramatically different experiences. At Off-Grid, we are embracing this chemical diversity and understanding it. When we can understand how nature makes these compounds, then we can get access to the compounds. Once we have access, we can start to understand how each compound can be used for various applications. This access also allows us to create highly unique formulations based on natural phytocannabinoids to get a desired effect. The more we explore. the more we learn. The more we learn, the more formulations we launch.

Off-Grid’s blends are uniquely formulated to enhance everyday activities. We focus on rare natural products and their ability to supplement our daily lives. Using an evidence based approach, we formulate precise ratios of natural products using cannabinoid isolates to provide a highly consistent user experience. Life is full of balance, and Off-Grid tinctures are with you for the journey of new discovery. Come and be a part of the Off-Grid community, learn with us, send us your feedback, your ideas could be the next formulation.

CANNABINOIDS

There are many different types of cannabinoids that lead to different desired effects. Although the cannabinoids can look similar in shape and structure, they have very different effects. The wellness and scientific community are constantly discovering new applications and at Off-Grid we are at the cutting edge of research in this space.

CANNABIGEROL

Cannabegerol is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in the hemp and cannabis plant. The acidic form of CBG, CBGa, is the stem cell to all cannabinoids. Cannabinoids such as CBD, THC, and CBC are derived from CBGa. CBG binds to the same receptor as THC, the CB1 receptor, but unlike THC, CBG does not activate this system resulting in psycho-activity. As a result of this behavior, CBG can be used to reduce the psychoactive effects of THC. CBG has also been shown to have potent antibacterial activity and reduce inflammation. With respect to inflammation, CBG has been shown to help improve gut health and limit the growth of cancers such as colon cancer and glioblastoma. CBG also interacts with the 5HT receptor which is a serotonin receptor. Serotonin is one of the main neurotransmitters in the brain. Many depression and anxiety medications target serotonin production or re-uptake (for example SSRIs).

CANNABINOL

CBN is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in older cannabis plants. CBN is a degradation product of THC but has different effects when compared to THC. CBN can be sedative, anticonvulsant in animal and human studies, and has demonstrated significant properties related to anti-inflammatory and antibiotics. (Appendino et al., 2008; Evans, 2007; McPartland & Russo, 2001; Musty, Karniol, Shirikawa, Takahashi, & Knobel, 1976; Turner, Elsohly, & Boeren, 1980). At Off-Grid, we aim to use the calming effect of CBN to help make custom products to take advantage of CBN’s useful properties.

CANNABICHROMENE (CBC)

Cannabichromene (CBC) is one of the four major classes of cannabinoids, the others being type-CBD, type-CBG and type-THC. CBC is non-psychoactive and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. CBC has been shown to be beneficial for skin health through acne control as well as modulation of sebum. Unlike many of the other cannabinoids, CBC targets a different class of receptors known as the TRP channels. These channels are involved with pain pathways and the immune response. At Off-Grid, we are exploiting the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of CBC. The fact that CBC targets these areas through a different mode of action lets us personalize our products depending on what the need is.

CANNABIDIOL

CBD is one of the most well known cannabinoids and has been used in a wide variety of consumer and pharmaceutical products. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid that interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) to help regulate and achieve homeostasis. CBD has been proven to modulate your own body ECS through a variety of mechanisms. Unlike THC which directly targets the human ECS, CBD plays a nuanced role tipping the scaling in favor of “the calm”. CBD is one of the most studied cannabinoids ever and yet its exact function still remains unclear. At Off-Grid we are part of the community driving the knowledge around this compound. Since CBD does not directly target the ECS reactors it works on the “buddy system.” In combination with other cannabinoids, it can modulate their activity.
